Welcome to Department of Sociology

The Department of Sociology was established in the year 1961, in 1967 Post Graduate classes were started. The department had a glorious past and has always been cherished and nurtured by highly skilled and devoted hard working teachers. The department was established by Prof. S.K. Gogne who headed it from 1961 to 1976. In 1982 Dr. B.M. Munjal took over the headship of the department. He started M.Phil classes in Sociology. In 1990, Prof. Gagan Hinduja took the charge of the Department. In 2005, Dr. Sudha Silawat become the head of the Department. She took over the Department a great height. After that Dr. Tripat Kaur Chawala become the head of the Sociology Department very well. After 2015 Dr. Sulbha Kakirde worked as head of the Department. The Department has organized seminars, exhibitions, guest lectures on different current topics for development of understanding of subject. Presently Dr. Sudhir Saxena is the Head of the Department.
